A credit report is used to give a creditor the information required to assess your potential to conduct your credit activities in line with their agreements.

This information is used to verify your identity. It helps as a safeguard against identity fraud.

  • Your date of birth
  • Your current and past addresses
  • Employment status
  • Driving licence number
  • Credit Applications

Credit applications and Enquiries

  •  The name of all of your past and current credit providers
  •   The amount of credit applied for
  •   The type of credit – ie. if it was for a mortgage or a car loan
  •   May contain if you were refused or accepted credit

Credit Default and Repayment History

  •  Credit Defaults – This section of a credit report shows instances where you have overdue payments of over 60 days and have been sent a letter notifying you of the default. To a lender you are deemed to be a “high risk client” if you have defaults here.
  • Paid and Unpaid Credit Defaults – This is where it is listed that a credit default has been paid. If you have paid your defaults you will be viewed more favorably by lenders.
  •  Serious Credit Infringements –This section details instances where you have had a credit default , the lender has attempted to contact you in writing and there has been no response. You have been listed as a missing debtor. In this instance you will have trouble obtaining credit with this on your file.
  • Bankruptcy, Part 9 and Part 10 – This section outlines any court ordered payments listed. Any sort of judgment debts or bankruptcy orders are listed here. You may have trouble obtaining any sort of credit with a listing here until the expiry date of the default.
